Statment
In addition to an increasingly hectic life-style,
we experience daily a
flood of bad news, pictures from war-torn areas and other atrocities
through the media.
We have therefore, a greater need to promote the aesthetic side of the
world and present the beauty within us through, among other things,
works of art.
For me, painting a picture is to use the canvas as a window where a
part of the soul can seep through in the form of shapes and colours. It
is a window through which we can manifest our own little worlds.
It is fantastic to see that the harmony and balance in a picture are
also created in the viewer as well. To be able to convey the impression
of happiness, one that extends past our own limited boundaries, is
precisely what is needed in our lives today. It is therefore I am very
concerned with creating a balanced composition in my paintings through
the use of simplified figurative language and harmonious colours. My paintings are predominated by modern figuratism .The motives are simplified to create an overall picture together with the background through common lines and integrated surfaces of colour. This becomes a kind of cubic style with, to a certain extent, geometric regulated elements in the picture.
Biography
I was born in Baghdad in 1960 and have worked many years with drawings, paintings, layout designs and as an assistant in a art workshop before coming to Norway in 1988. Unfortunately, due to the political situation in my home country, I could not fulfil my dream of perusing an education in art at a young age. By coincidence I began to study geology, and completed my Master's degree at the University of Oslo in 2003. These years of studies, however, did not prevent me from working with art and my flamboyant dreams. I started figurative painting in 2003 and studied under the artist Mard Issa in Asker. Furthermore I attended a drawing and painting class at Vika School of Art, Oslo, in 2006.
